I've been set on majoring on visual effects for a long time and was accepted to the digital media program at Otis. However, I interned at a visual effects studio and that experience has left me lost. It seems in reality visual effects is its own thing, separate from the "artisic" aspect of filmmaking. The reality of vfx is that it's too technical. While I was interning all I did was sit at a computer for ten hours rotoing a thirty second shot! Anyhoo I realized that this is not what I want to do.

However, there's a catch. I want to be involved in filmmaking but vfx seems to be the only area right now that guarantees a job after graduation. Should I switch to film studies and take my chances or major in vfx?

I went to a community college and I have to decide soon if I want to go to Otis for vfx this fall or stay another year at cc and apply to various schools (I'm thinking Chapman or USC-I have a 3.3 GPA) for fall 2010. Help!
