I'm new here and the site looks like a great resource. So my first question is what film schools are good for people with little to no previous experience in filmmaking? I have a great love of film and really have my mind set on going to film school to learn about directing, cinematography, and production. And, of course, one day I hope for one of those to be my career! Any help would be great, thanks.

Just about any school will consider you even if you have no experience. Experience just makes it more likely that they'll accept you.

I don't think it makes too big a difference wheather you have a lot of experience or not...because the truth is, most people have way less experience than they think. The majority of film schools have their students working with 16 mm, and most incoming freshman have very little or no experience working with actual film. So they learn everything when they get there. I think the most important factor to film schools when reviewing peoples applications isnt how much experience they have (although it can only help), but their writing/storytelling skills and their dedication. I would say that it would be a good idea for you to apply wherever you want. Go for the best film schools like USC or NYU..you have nothing to lose. If you have the grades and submit some really great essays and writing samples, theres no reason i can think of why they wouldnt consider you for admissions Big Grin

Good luck with the application process!
