Alright guys so heres the deal. First off let me once again say hi to everyone on the forums. This is only my second post but what an amazing site. Anyway... I need a little help

Heres my scenario. I'll be graduating from the University of Texas at Austin with a BA in American Studies in about a month. Since about the start of my junior year I began to realize how interested I was in the world of filmmaking. So I started taking as many film related courses here at UT as I could. The more classes I took the more interested I became. However, only in probably the last six months to a year have I really decided that this is what I really want to pursue. (I only wish I would have realized it a little earlier). And sadly I haven't done much about it outside of school due to juggling work, school, and some family problems. The good news is I'm in one of the best cities to be in besides NY or LA, or thats what I've been told.

I have almost zero experience and absolutely no idea what to do next? Although I am at UT, my GPA is in the can at about a 2.3 due to me going wild the first half of my college career. Therefore I'm not sure continuing my education would be a possibility at a major film school. While I'm very thankful for not having any student loans out already, I would surly have to take some out as I'm not sure my parents would be willing to throw more money at my education at this point. I do have a few connections in LA and my cousin is a filmmaker in Nashville, but I feel that I don't have the skills necessary to jump right into the business. So my question is if you were in my shoes right now what would your next step be? Should I just try to jump into the work force for a little while? Continue my education? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
