Hi there. My name is Ashwath Ravee and I'm from India. I'm looking to do a film production program in Canada. I've already finished an undergrad in Electronic Media (deals with production for various media) here so i'm looking for something at the graduate level.
So far, i've come across the Vancouver Film School and Sheridan. I actually met one of the VFS international admissions advisors yesterday and the stuff she told me seemed quite impressive. I've also heard from a couple of people that VFS is regarded as one of the best film schools in the world but a few posts on this site tell me otherwise. I've made a few short films in the past and i have a bit of experience with different aspects of production like direction, editing and cinematography. VFS is really expensive so i have to get a student loan to go there. However, i wouldn't mind doing that as long as...
a. my creativity isn't limited in anyway (as in, i wouldn't really like to have people changing my scripts) b. the school has great equipment and infrastructure. c. preference is given to hands on work rather than the theory side with people to guide me in getting my output to look as professional as possible. d. completing the film program at VFS gives me good job opportunities. Of course, this does depend on my performance for the most part but a little bit of help in contacting people in the industry wouldn't hurt
My alternative like i mentioned is the Advanced Television and Film program at Sheridan. It's not as expensive as VFS but i've heard that it's kinda tough for international students to get into. On the other hand, getting into VFS seems a lot easier as long as i have the money. I'm looking at October for VFS and January for Sheridan as the start dates.
Could someone (with knowledge on either of these schools) please gimme info on the work pattern, the faculty and the lifestyles of the students there? Suggestions on other schools are welcome too. Thanks in advance.

Hi ashr! I was also considering going to vfs few months ago but i thought the fee was too much.Sheridan is a better option as it is a full fledged education institute so resources are also good in terms of library and other stuff. Read student views at www.filmmaking.net . Also try searching on http://www.studycanada.ca/india/index.htm.
