I was wondering what it takes to get into film school. I have good high school GPA 3.9 and Im involved in extracurricular activities. I also made an award winning short film. What else should I do to get into film school? Also Im a sophmore.
Thanks Gdot

Well, it depends on what film schools you're going to apply to. First of all, you should choose some of them.

You just need to work on good SAT scores and a killer essay, and you're in good shape.

yeah I agree with Cine, you have to know what specific schools your interested in (based on location, strength of program... etc.), and then those schools should have specific requirements on their website or in a viewbook for the school

Essays. Start looking at the essays. It's all about the essays.

Agreed. By the way, could you please advice me something (book or other stuff), where I would find more information about writing good essay?

Do you like to read? Reading a lot is key. You'll get a sense of the written language. You'll find authors you preffer and you'll find the styles you like best.
Doesn't have to be school literature stuff. I read a lot of Stephen King and Isaac Asimov, for instance. Also, the catcher in the rye is amazing...

And then write. Write a lot. Write for the school magazine, write short stories, poetry, write whatever you feel like.

I think that'll hone your writing chops more than any how-to book.

I wrote my statement by looking at all the required stuff, writing them down then going and outlining it. I had a theme.

You want to be super organized and read it about a million times get as many people to read your paper as possible then hand it off to a professional who will take care of extra hidden grammar stuff.
