I am 20 years old and finishing High School in Germany. I have applied to several colleges including emerson, North Carolina School of the Arts and LA city college. My parents don't have much money, that is why I applied to only 1 private school, in fact, Emerson. Let us say I get accepted to all of them (I know I get accepted to LACC). North Carolina School of the Arts meant: GED classes from 8am till 2pm, after that only film-related activities. This is exactly what I want to do. The alternative: Go to LACC and get an associate degree, then transfer to lets say Cal State Northridge or UCLA and get my bachelor after 4 years there. However, this path would cost me 6 years of my life (I would be 26 by then). The other alternative would be Emerson college. My education would endure 4 years which is good. The problem is: it is very expensive even if we get financial aid. Would going into debts be worth it in the end? And how is a schoolweek at emerson college like for a film student?
Cheers,
Dave

well davepac i live right in los angeles. so i can only comment on lacc and from what i know, the program is really good but the atmosphere sometimes consists of unmotivated students who dropped out of high school or who didn't achieve well. Not to say that those students aren't capable of anything, but I have a close friend who goes to LACC and he said his drama class is sometimes dissapointing because of the lack of seriousness. That's all I can say about that. But I guess if your motivated on your own you can make things happen. Plus it's right in Los Angeles. I heard Emerson is great. Don't know much about North Carolina.

ah great to hear that syj. People in this forum think so positive of LACC, so what you said helps me a lot. It is basically these little aspects which form a decision. So thank you so far. And I would appreciate more comments like that.

Not only my grandparents were Nazis (even my grandmother carried a gun), also my parents are. My father is in the SA (Sturmabteilung), and my sister is in the BDM (Bund Deutscher Mädel). We have a German Shepherd and we eat Sauerkraut every day.
