There's a lot of discussion about "film" schools but if I want to work on visual effects/animation - which schools should I look at? Is a year program (like at Vancouver Film School) sufficient or better to try for one of the four year schools? If it's just your portfolio they're going to look at wouldn't it make more sense to get out asap? Is a place like Emerson primarily for film production as opposed to animation/visual effects?

hi ,

yeah i have heard the same thing ,but if you check the gallery you will find schools like vfs and lost boys learning far better than the sheridan , i am thinking of seneca since i can afford the fees and mailny want to concentrate on vfx and not so much of maya 3d world.

This topic has been posted on CG talk numerous times. There's a pretty dedicated forum post on VFS there.

If your looking for info of 3D programs in Vancouver. Check out http://www.artschoolreviews.ca for alumni reviews.

I'd suggest Lost Boys Learning if you were looking into VFX, but that's just my opinion.
