Someone tell me if this is true......My friend, who tends to lie, told me that Spielberg's son is going to Chapman's Films School...Is this true? I always thought his kids were younger...maybe this is on the DL and nobody knows, but to all you over there at Chapman, let me know!

Lets hope this thing ends quick...enough said

I don't know if this helps (probally not but..), from what I read Spielbergs son attends the New York Film Academy every summer. I read it right of the academy website so I guess it has some truth to it?

This kid has his life set though... I know he didn't ask to be special etc.
But he will never have to work hard at making films, he can just sit there and take lessons from Daddy then prance into Hollywood and reak havoc. I know this sounds childish and envious but.. I hope his movies suck !! Razz

How can you say that?! You hope his movies suck?! Spielburg is a genius, and just because he had some kids doesn't mean they have it all easy! Sure, they will definitely be ahead of the game, but I wouldn't say I hope their movies suck. If anybody should be wished "sucky movies", it should be to the directors of unfunny films like Jackie Chan/Western movies. Yeah...

I'm 14, have no money, don't have my own camera, and live in a small town with no good actors. PLEASE ADOPT ME!

14? And you're on this site? Wow...way to go. If you don't have a camera then practice writing. If you can, please find a camera, get a job selling papers, do something, buy whatever camera you can afford and FILM! FILM! FILM! Do a documentry on that small town you live in, make it humorous but with dignity...or make a movie about a small town film maker and use everyone in your community to get it filmed. I'm sure this isn't the response you were looking for but I had to say something after reading our signature at the bottom of the page. E-mail me if you have any questions about film/video. I think it's cool as hell that you're younger than all of us and coming onto the board! Good Luck...

And by the way, Spielberg's kid I'm pretty sure does go to Chapman. I heard it from another person who lives in Orange County, so something must be up with that.

Maybe he went to Chapman because he got tired of NYFA exploiting him on their website! Smile Of course, Chapman is an actual University that offers degrees and stuff, and NYFA is basically a summer camp, so maybe he just went there in High School.

It suprises me that Speilberg's son wouldn't just go to USC, I mean, his father is a board member and does donate serious money to it. (I have nothing against Chapman) but why would he go there?

spielberg has a son who wants to make films. dear god one spielberg has been hell enough for the last 25-30 years. I have no idea where this myth of spielberg the god came from. with slight exception to schindler's list and saving private ryan, he has nothing. we all know the quality of good films has gone down since someone decided to give spielberg "the throne" so to speak. if you don't agree then take a look at it. it scares me to think of the 100 million dollar film crap this kid could come up with. i think alot of ppl on this forum know i hate spielberg. ive had these battles before. but lets face it, this kid will quickly fade away after one ppor film (and we all have one in us). he would be smarter finding something else to be successful in. im not saying other children of stars havent been successful (ei. michael douglas) but lets face it, this kid will never amount to the lone two decent spielberg films there are.

Lone two decent Spielberg films? Haven't you ever heard of a little thing called the Indiana Jones trilogy? Jaws? Close Encouters of the Third Kind? ET?

No more...Spielberg's son question was stupid to put up! My bad. We are done, no bashing on Spielberg either. The man was part of three who brought cinema back to life! He got the money back into the game and people away from their TV's and back into the theaters....shut your cake hole if you think else wise. You can not argue that fact! Shut up and start a new convo..sick of this underground HYPE of hating Spielberg, get a life. You only dream of making films like ET.

Ok, here you go kids:

Taken from the good people at imdb.com...

http://us.imdb.com/Bio?Spielberg,%20Steven

"Children, with Kapshaw, Theo Spielberg (b. 1988, adopted), Sasha Spielberg (b. 1990), Sawyer Spielberg (b. 1992), Mikaela Spielberg (b. 1996, adopted) and Destry Spielberg (b. 1996). Is stepfather of actress Jessica Capshaw (b. 1976)."

That makes his oldest son 15. I don't think this kid is in any big film school right now. Although for the one born in 1996..I think we'd bettter open an argument on what college that kid's going to.

Oh..wait..nevermind:

They left out Max, his half son whose name was on the billboard for JAWS 19 in BACK TO THE FUTURE 2. He's 17 (which is pretty much High School) and went to that New York Film academy summer workshop deal for 4 weeks.

From:
http://www.hollywood.com/news/detail/article/1626056

Max Spielberg, the 17-year-old son of director Steven Spielberg, recently completed work on Snap Shot, a short film he wrote, produced, directed, shot and edited. Adam Schiff, a spokesman for the New York Film Academy, said the project was part of a four-week workshop held on the back lot of Universal Studios in Los Angeles, which the young Spielberg attended. The film, according to Reuters, is about a tourist couple drawn into a string of homicides after their instant camera accidentally gets switched with the camera of a serial murderer. There are no immediate plans for the short to receive a public exhibition. Either way, it looks like Max is following his father's footsteps right into Tinseltown.

Now quit yo *****in. Damn.

Didn't he make "Heist" and "The Ring", not the Hollywood "Heist" and "The Ring", but the student film ones. Maybe it's a different guy, but I think it was him. I remember because of the reference he made to Kubrick in "Heist" with the "kubrick zoom" or what ever.

One of Spielberg's sons did go to NYFA, it says so right on their web site.

Also, of course any Spielberg child will have it easy AT FIRST. When it comes to getting noticed or obtaining funding. However, after that, it all comes down to one thing: do people like the movies the person makes?

Look at it this way. A lot of famous musicians have children. How many of them grow up to also be great musicians? I know there are a few. There are some who try but never get big. But most don't have anything to do with music.

In the end, it will depend on if the public likes the stuff the person does.

"Make a film! FIND YOUR OWN IDENTITY
AS A FILM-MAKER! ITS OK IF YOU FAIL
AT FIRST. FAILURE HELPS YOU LEARN"

I see.. you're one of those guys, huh? You can't FAIL until you BEGIN. Make sense?

Now you see why a kid such as yourself saying "Spielberg has nothing" is quite amusing to say the least. I might be able to take you more seriously if you had at least turned a camera on ONCE in your life...

Too much...

bull****. if i had done a film you would just look at it and say "well thats crap. spielberg is so better than you." you know you would. youd name ten cliches i hit (which you will when and if you ever see my film). you would probably go as far as to say that my film is just like a spielberg flick. probably just to piss me off by calling me the one thing i hate most. well i guess i can only show you what i can do then. i really dont give a **** how good/ bad my film is to you as long as i never turn into a 50 year old sell out. you ppl can continue to join the group of spielberg lovers in a dazed following. i only hope some of can wake up and see that doing your own thing is much more enriching. the matrix sucks. sequels suck. it seems like everytime anything good comes out it has to be ruined by a sequel just because one out of a hundred of em makes money. why do ppl have to do this? spielberg (and lucas for that matter). fact: my favorite film is american psycho. fact: the one film i hate most is american psycho 2. this guy ruined film. and for all you who long to live in his shadow have a good life. you will wake up one day saying "wow i wish i would have done something that was me. not phony." thats all i see now. phony. and i love to hear all of the ppl defend him. it reminds me of why i dont go to summer movies. i really dont know whatever anyone said to me to set it off. oh well. i'll get my film going. ill show you. and every spielberg lover will hate it. why? because its not spielberg. its not anybody. its just me and im not afraid that it may not be "mainstream" and number one at the boxoffice. you cant ever judge someone by how much or little money he/she makes. cause stats lie. screw this. im gunna go shoot some stuff. ive got ppl to make enemies of.
