I've got a dilemma. I live in Montgomery County MD but will be moving to Austin at the end of November. I know my grades aren't nearly good enough to attend an university so I will go to a film program in community college for a year or two and apply then.
Montgomery College is like one of the best community colleges in the US and it has a good movie production program but Austin is like one of the best places to be an indie filmmaker (and to live at that). Austin Community College film program doesn't seem to be a film program at all, but a RTF (Radio-Television-Film) with nothing but film history class for the film portion. Should I go to ACC but take the Creative Writing course while making movies on my own? Do you think UT's Film Department would take me into consideration just as much?

I don't think the difference of which community college you go to will affect UT's decision about excepting you. Plenty of people in my area go to our local community college and then go to UT instead of going to the local UT campus (UT at Arlington) and then going to UT. That and the Austin community college's aren't half bad anyway. So yeah, come down here, do your stuff, jack up your grades, and then maybe you'll be one of the lucky kids to get a million dollar budget for your short.

Holy SHI T, i love in montogmery county, by montgomery mall, that field with the radio towers on it. WOW that is weird. Yeah "MK" is one of the best community colleges in the country, but remember, thats still a community college. This is still kind of freaking me out. I have heard of Austin, good luck there. Go WHITMAN VIKINGS 8-0!!!
