Hello, I'm new here and just wanted to know whether anyone received word from any schools yet, MFA film programs?
OR, if you have gone through this seemingly endless waiting process before, around when did you hear?

When I applied for USC's film school, I sent in my application at the beginning of December...and I didn't hear back until late April. It was horrible waiting that long...but I got in, so it was worth it.

NYU Tisch class of 2007 here.

...And I just finished reading that Robert Rodriguez book that Tizzy reccomends. In it he tells me what a waste of money NYU is. Hmm....

Meh.

It took 3 weeks just to get my SAS Postcard back from AFI. They don't send acceptances until sometime in April and I don't think they've even begun interviewing (They haven't called me yet at least Frown).

LOL. Notice, he did go to film school, all be it for a short time, but even so. He was only able to make his film because he knew how film worked (exposure, f stops, light meter reading, ect.) I know what Robert said, but I think the point is this..
(1) Dont wait until film school to start making movies
(2) You learn best by doing.
Film school can be a great place to "Do" especially in respected program like that. Be a sponge my friend. Absorbe EVERYTHING. Make them wish they had charged you more to go there for all you take away. That is still a great opportunity. Exploit it.

I applied to USC and UCLA in December. You are supposed to hear by May 1st for USC and sometime at the end of March for UCLA (which you also have to do an interview for before you are admitted).

So we've already got a SCAD, a Tisch, and a Cal Arts acceptance (Not to mention AlsonThorne already in USC and Tizz Monnster at University of Rodriguez). We're not doin' too bad around here! Wink

I'm still waiting to hear back from Chapman University. I'm not sure if I'll go though, I might stay home and travel making films with people through out the country for a year or so. I want to learn from others for awhile, I think it would be interesting and really fun!

One thing to keep in mind is that by going to school in LA you can make some great connections. That can get your ball rolling a lot quicker than going to school in IOWA...

But still no guarantee....

well, for those of you trying to see which letter you're waiting on...

I just got my rejection letters from NYU and CalArts, lol, so if you haven't received that letter (yet), then you're doing pretty good.

screenwriter, how does the NYU rejection letter look like? eheSmile

for the guy who asked about the grades: I got bad grades in my swiss high school (C average) but we cannot compare the swiss system to the US...it is totally different. But here, in my fist semester at an US college, I got a 4.00 average and 1240 in SAT (which was quite difficult for me-->verbal part.)

I really really hope NYU does not look too much into my high school grades but focuses on what I achieved in the United States
