Hi I am bored and want to do something with my life I have a degree in game design and am located in Seattle. Your probably think that’s a pretty good hook up cause of all the game companies up here in the Seattle area, which it is. I have worked on a TV show up here so I have worked with high quality models not just games, but seriously i am bored of working in front of a computer day in and out, and want to move on. I love movies and want to be apart of the creation of movies and thinking about going to a film school. I was looking into both the Seattle Film institute, and Vancouver Film School. SFI is more in my price range and I was wondering if any of you guys have gone there or have heard of anything about it. I am really interested in your guy’s opinion so any comments would help.

no one here has gone to SFI?

Hey, I went and toured the school in November, and met with the director. I haven't attended classes there, but I think they have a decent hands-on, intensive study program. It's a small school, with out any b.s. You should make an appointment and check it out for yourself. They're very nice,and I think would be happy to show you around. They have enough equipment to shoot and edit indie movies plus several G4's and G5's. I found it to be pricey, but then again I'm relatively poor and didn't want to take out a fairly large loan.

its only about 17k for the 40 week program. I got accepted to Brooks, which is about 75k for the three year program, soo its about 25k a year. I belvieve if I put my all into it and learn everything I can it wont really matter where i go, for what price i get what I put into it. I hear SFI has a really good inter program to.

I haven't checked this web site in a few days, but I agree with your assertion that it is more about putting your all into it than where you went to school. The most important things that are garnered from film school (aside from the formal education) are the connections and having a finished film reel/script to shop around. These days, though, with the advent of digital media, it's taken a lot of the mystery out of movie-making. One can turn out a pretty sharp movie with something as simple as iMovie. It's about having vision, drive, and a good script idea, as much as formally learning the craft. I am shooting on 16mm, so I am carefully taking some classes because a rookie screw-up can cost me hundreds of dollars... Are you going to check out SFI?

Yea i finally got my packet of info from the school it looks really promising, they say they have a pretty good line up of internship after people graduate, does anyone have experience in this and now if its not just aploy to get more people? I am planning on actually making an appointment and going to the school next week or as soon as I can.
