Hello, I was wondering if some of you could help me figure out if I will get into film school. I would like to apply to NYU, USC, UCLA, and Columbia. (I’m about to become a senior in high school)

Here is a quick resume:

Grades:
·3.65 GPA
·2100 on the PSAT (Haven’t taken the SAT yet)
·***I’m not in the Top 10% of my class
·Will have taken about 7 AP classes

Extracurricular (There are a lot):
·Been on the Debate team for 3 years
·Went to multiple debate tournaments (Competed in: CX Debate, Extemp Speaking, Student Congress)
·Sophomore Class President
·I will CREATE a LULAC (League of United Latin American Citizens) club [LULAC is a Huge Hispanic Organization]
·I will be President of that LULAC club
·4 Years of Piano
·Black Belt
·Made an awesome website for my school (by myself)
·Many summer Debate and Leadership workshops
·I have had some sort of “professional” job since I was about 10 (part time of course)
·Film Film Film!!!

*Also, I am Hispanic (small trump card)

Portfolio:
·I am going to send in a great 10 min. film. I have the screenplay ready (really strong) and I will be filming it next week.

Considering I have an extremely large amount of extracurricular activities to help balance out my lower grades, what else do I need to do to get a “lock” into some of the above schools? Do I have a lock already (which schools)? Am I close? What do I need to improve on? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

http://www.collegedata.com will tell you all you need to know. I think you're all set, though...a lot of people would kill for those credentials.

Just work on a killer essay, and put as much story into your portfolio film as possible (sounds like you've got that down, with the strong script). I think you're on target for acceptance at a good selection of those schools. Good luck!

Okay, that helped lift a lot of weight off my back. I think I'm on the right track, and I will work on an essay soon. Is there any other comments that anyone can give me. Thanks.
