I have been accepted to both and am trying to decide between the two. I'd love to hear some opinions regarding each of the schools. Specifically, I am going for film production hoping to become a director. If anyone could offer insight into how the programs compare please let me know.

Thanks

Well, for one thing, one is in LA and the other is in Boston, which are just about polar opposite cities. You'll get a good film eduction at either school, but when you make your decision you should consider what type of place you'd like to go to school in, because they're very different in that regard.

Location is a major factor in my consideration. However I have read that Emerson has a program in LA and that it plans to expand this program.

Therefore, I am also trying to make a decision based on the merits of the programs offered by either school. What are the pros and cons of each school? Does one have better equipment? A better faculty? What are the key differences between the way the two schools teach someone to make movies? Is one more technical while the other focuses more on the artistic aspects?

I would love to hear personal preferences with justification. Why is Emerson better than LMU or vice-versa?

Here is a link to an interview with the Dean of LMU. Good info on the direction of the program.

Teri Schwartz has big plans for Loyola Marymount's film school

Does anybody mind helping me? I can't find the LMU requirements as far as the portfolio work goes.

No portfolio is required for LMU. Film Production majors are required to write an additional essay.

I just found LMU is on iTunes in the University section with some Video Podcasts on the Film and Television department.

It would be sweet if all schools started doing this to at least explain about the program. I found the DVD Chapman sent me to be very helpful and wonder why other schools don't do that.
