I was accepted to UW-Milwaukee, Savannah College of Art and Design, and UNC-Wilmington last year. Due to lack of funds, I figured I would just get my film degree from UW-M and then go to a good school for my masters. Not a good choice. Their program is experimental only!!! I realize going to school you have to see all types of films to hone your own style...but making scratch films onleader for 2 years???? No. I dont think so. I have witnessed peoples short, dramas shot down by the department, because that isnt what they are teaching. I was also told that you dont get jobs in film with a degree in film from UW-M, from the HEAD of the program. No why would i waste 4 years of my life gettign a worthless degree?? Granted there are a few filmakers who came from UW-M, but the majority dont work with film at all. It sucks. Get a general degree and then get a masters in film. Undergraduate in film means nothing, compared to a graduate. Im now going to school for forestry and recreation, and am focusing on making extreme sports and outdoor films. WHooooo. Just my thoughts.

uw-madison is a film studies program, not a film production program. you learn about different styles.....and its a good place to go if you are planning on going onto grad school...but other than that.....madison will just induce alcoholism
An undergrad film degree really doesnt mean anything. Its all about what you do with your talents. Or put it this way, a degree might help with getting an internship somewhere, but no one can just walk up to a studio and say "Hey! I have a degree in film! Can I get a job?" and actually get one.
