Hi, I'm new here. I just recently discovered that I would much rather study screenwriting and acting (than what I'm currently studying, social work), two things that I have always been passionate about, but I never thought I could pursue seriously. Because of this I dont't have much of a film portfolio and I'm wondering if there's any good schools I could still get into?

Dont go to film school. Stay in whatever college you are in and just write. If you can try to get into a university with a good community and get a writing degree or something. One big hint about making movies, is that going to any school isnt going to get you a job making movies anywhere, you need to make that opertunity yourself.

Just sit down and write stuff all the time.

i agree with gomez, however, i suggest taking some film courses at your school of some kind. also, if u think its a strong passion, try taking some summer courses or soemthing. if it still jogs ur interest, work on a portfolio - possibly apply to another school, or maybe graduate school

good luck
