i do not believe that there are any film schools that are going to guarantee a job in the industry after graduation.
what film schools do is they teach you about film, the technical side, a little aesthetic, and they mostly provide you with the equipment, and how to use it, from there, you the student has to put forth the effort to use what they have offered you (after tuition is paid) to go out and make a film, make a demo reel, and have some foothold against all the other competition out there.
it is up to the student to get that job.
without a good reel and prior knowledge from an institution or experience in the field, NYU and AFI are very tough to get into.
Before attending the Academy of Art College in SF, I applied to both those schools, and only had a poor reel and internship to show for. AFI gave me an interview and denied me, and NYU denied me straight out.
research your options.
whoops, post a poll but here are my top ten film schools in the country (for possible job placement)
basically, the closer you are to the indeusty(LA), the closer you are to getting a job in the industry, but that is just one opinion.
love to her what others have to say!

I think you're right on the money Kubrick77. No school will drive you to the gates of Paramount where you will sip martinis and actresses will fight over who gets to marry you next (As is probablly promised in the Full Sail brochure).
I do, however, believe some film schools leave graduates in better shape than others. Graduates of schools with massive and successful Alumni bases and schools that push actual technical, artistic and economical competance will have a better chance of at least making a living in the industry.
Some of the experienced and successful professionals I've talked to in Hollywood have said that not having a degree from one of the top schools will result in people not taking you as seriously. In other words, the degree doesn't really help you a whole lot but the lack of one can hurt.

How do you like the Academy of Art College in SF? I have not heard much about it on this board. How would you compare it to the other film schools in California for Undergrad and Grad work?
