So here is my situation. I have heard back from everywhere except SUNY Purchase. Out of those schools I've been accepted to SVA is my top choice. I've called Purchase a couple times to make sure they didn't send me anything and I just didn't get it but apparently not. I was told that the people in charge of the film admissions were on vacation and that I'd hear from them in a week. One week later...still nothing. I called them again and they inform me that they're so backed up with their whopping 600 applications that they'll be conducting interviews up til April 25th. WTF?! I really want to just tell Purchase to go f*** themselves and send SVA my deposit.

Am I wasting my time waiting on Purchase or what? From what I know, SVA's film program has a better reputation and it has the advantage of being in NYC. Is there anything about Purchase that makes it worth putting up with their b.s.?

The same thing is happening with me and Purchase. My interview was 2/10, they said if I hadn't heard back by 3/10 I should call. So I called on 3/11 and they said call a week later, I called around 3/19 and they said they might not know until mid April where they would mail me. I called the beginning of April and they say they'll inform me of my decision through a phonecall not even a letter. I called the main Purchase admissions dept. and they said someonething along the lines of "The Film program has been off doing their own thing."

Yeah they told me they would email me questions in place of an actual interview and then they would call me if I got in or mail a letter if not. It sucks because I was counting on the interview to be an opportunity to visit the school. It's frickin ridiculous.

Yeah, they just seemed very unorganized and when I went there for an interview, the guy seemed very full of himself. He was trying to hurry me up because he had to go to lunch...But if you're not going for an interview, are you sending your portfolio in?

Well yesterday I went up for a visit, and while I was taking a tour my mom called the place to see if they could do an interview or whatever while I was up there. They called her back saying I didn't get in.

Total waste of time. Apparently they only take 20 freshmen film students out of like 600 apps. I was going off of their average acceptance rate of 30%. They even told me that if I wanted to go into a different program that I'd get in with a scholarship. Whatever. And now I'm not even sure if I'm going to go to SVA as it's going to be more expensive than I realized.
