Hey i'm looking for some average film schools on the east coast. By average i mean not so high as NYU yet not so low that people are shocked that they even have a film major. But i'm not looking for technical-ish schools like NYFA. I'm looking for colleges and ones that offer a BFA...thanks in advance

It's a bird....It's a plane.....It's SUPERMAN!!

^^I'm not sure that FSU can be considered "average"...the film school only accepts 20 incoming freshman each year. As for average film schools, I would say the University of Miami (great program...and you just have to get admitted into the school, and they automatically let you major in film), American University (havnt heard as much about their film program, but i applied there cuz ive heard some good things...also like UM you just need to get into the school). Also Hofstra in NY, you just need to get into the university, UNC-Wilmington (dawson's creek and one tree hill were filmed right by the campus, so there are some good internship opportunities) and The University of Central Florida has a really good program. It's a little selective, but they allow you to send in a whole portfolio with writing samples and its optional to send a film in, if you want. So if you have a good portfolio you shouldnt have too hard a time getting in.

Thats all I can think of for now...i've applied to so many schools with film programs, i can barely remember all of them lol. I'll post the rest as soon as I remember them.

None of those are average. They're all great schools.

When I think of an average film school, I think of Fitchburg State, Drexel, or the University of Hartford.

Lynn, FL and FAU, FL are pretty bellow average, its theory with a lot of DV work more of a motion picture college. Columbia College in IL is supposed to have an average film school.

I would say that Penn State could qualify as an average film school as well.
