I expect to hear from UCLA by the end of April. And yes Hoeks, that is the classic envelope rating. Big = welcoming info. Small = get lost. However, I understand UCLA does interviews before final acceptance. So, I don't know if the interview request (God willing) will come in a big or small envelope. Maybe they have a special medium-sized one. Nvzublman007, when I hear from UCLA, I'll post my grade info.

so I FINALLY got my letter from NYU after calling them and all that--and they wouldn't tell me over the phone...oh the apprehension. And I'm on the waiting list! I think that's a good thing, that they even considered me at all--my grades are totally not NYU-type grades. oOoOoOo =)) We'll see in June...

Just curious- what are their minimum requirements? I can't seem to find anything on their site or application regarding GPA/Experience recommendations for entry into their MFA programs... Although I'm sure whose signatures at the bottom of those 2 recommendation letters has something to do with it! -Steve Maio "Edit Everything"

hey, you think your worries about acceptance are troublesome, I already got in but now I have to figure out how the hell I'm going to pay them $44,000 per year, especially since they only offered 3k in scholarship and are only willing to give me $3,500 in student loans. The rest of the loans that they offer go straight to my parents who will have to start paying them back 90 days after the loan is issued. Where the hell do they expect this money to come from?! My parents don't have the cash to pay tuition for two kids in college PLUS loan payments. Put *me* in debt. I don't care. Just leave my parents alone! Oh crap, what am I going to do... (see? You have it easy) --Alan ------------------ http://www.alandenton.com------------------

I don't think GPA is a large concern for them. They're more concerned with experience (They want 3-5 years, but do count undergrad film school) and writing/reel samples. I did have to have the University of California send them my undergrad transcript as proof of graduation, though. No doubt the names at the bottom of your recommendations can aide you greatly. I did get an interview (Which couldn't have gone much worse) without having anybody "Important" on my letters of recommendation and a friend of mine got into the directing program there. To the best of my knowledge he doesn't know anyone famous either. Hopefully they won't be as deluged with applicants next year if the economy rights itself a bit. Nota Mondo, Thanks for the reply. I agree that the economy is playing a huge role in masters program applications! Up until this slump, I was a working Avid editor (corporate, mostly) and a college dropout. Now I'm back finishing up my degree because there is little or no work. (and trying to get into features)
Out of curiosity, what program were you applying to at AFI? I have the misfortune of trying to get into their Editing discipline in a few years... A discipline in which they accept half the number of students per year in comparison to the others. That's a whoping total of 15 accepted per year!!!
Alan Denton, Where are you going that costs $44k? Has the school offered sugestions as to where you might secure private loans to make up the difference?
