I am in the process of making an important desicion to enroll in a film school to study film directing. I am 33 years old now and i have a deploma in management, i always loved to be a director and i have great passion and talent for it.

Can any one advise me where to start looking if you were in my place, because of my limited budget i am concidering a one year program like NYFA in New York City. what do you think of NYFA compared to other similar program?? would you concider schools like NYU or Columbia over NYFA?? Any advise will be apreciated.

I'm not sure what you are going to learn in one year.

NYFA is a trade school. NYU and Columbia are universities. That's your fundamental difference right there.

If you just want to learn and you don't care about a prestigious diploma (which doesn't accomplish that much anyway), then NYFA will do.

Thank you for your reply. I agree with you that attending a regular university could be academically better, but what about the $100K tuition there ?? that is my concern, i know they offer a financial aid but i dont know if the FA will cover the whole thing.. plus it is at the end a huge loan that i have to pay back.
NYFA 1 year program however cost $35K.

So, if any one here attended the NYFA i would greatly appreciate sharing your experience.

Many thanks.
