Hey guys,

If there is a choice between PCFE Film School (Prague), EICAR (Paris), APA (Australia) and UCLA, what would you recommend?

From a very biased point of view I'd say Australia, but I really know nothing about the others.

UCLA, but your profile says Moscow. What about VGIK? (was this formerly RCS?) I'm sure the technical instruction there is oustanding. People who are trained in America tend to make American movies, and I think we have too many American film students already Wink

Evan,
I'm glad that know you about VGIK, but what you probably don't know is, that VGIK became an "old-style" school where you would be trained to become next-Tarkovskiy or next-Fellini. Obviously, you won't. So that is not a place to study how to shoot a movie. All the people I meet there are high-school students wearing caps, most of them are just pathetic idiots. And we don't have here any film community...

Roman - That sounds pretty grim, but I don't know that American film schools are necessarily better. In any field, most people are not very skilled/talented and you simply have to ignore the ones who are worthless and stupid. Tarkovsky was fairly critical of RCS in his book, but I figured that since you're in Moscow it was an option.

Evan,

Sure, I thought about it, but considering the fact that I moved to Moscow from the place located 10 000 km away (Russia is a pretty big country), I don't really hesitate about studing abroad.
Sure, I don't have illusions about about american film schools, I think european education is closer to me (by any means), and, yes, American movies are not so good fo me, but curiosly, my most of my favorites movies are American, and more that half of it were made by non-Americans (originally).

What abot you? Are you studing? Or you have already graduated? By the way, your last name looks like Eastern European... (Czech?).
