Hello all.

I graduated High School a couple of years ago with a 75% tuition paid scholarship. I live in Florida. Film is what I want to do in my life but my personal and family's economic situation is not good at all.
For a long time I just planned on getting a liberal arts AA tailored to get acceptabce into FSU Film School. For the reason that my scholarship covers only public colleges in Florida. FSU is supposed to be the only film school that covers your production expenses, add my scholarship and it all seemed like something doable. Problem is they take only 15 transfer students a year, so the odds are against me.
Im very confused If i should persue my plan to study 2 years a curriculum geared towards a highly competitive film school with so little odds of being accepted. I did wonderfully in High School and in my ACT tests so I have faith in my ability to get accepted into a major film school. But how on earth will I pay for a school out of state and the production of my films?
I appreciate any realistic feedback whether I should just choose a more conservative career than film directing.

I am in almost the same situation as you. Although I don't graduate for another two years, I know I will be able to get the Bright Future's scholarship, and I am confident I will score high on the SAT. I'm just worried I won't be able to get into FSU. Even though I will have about 8 AP classes by the time I graduate, I feel like the odds are stacked against me.

I am planning to go to India or Africa. There is a booming film industry and everything is very cheap, so you end up saving some money while you are studying. And you get to know a totally different culture which might even be useful.
The problem is just to find the right school where you really learn something.
O.K. and you won't get the contacts in your country right away. But anyway I would love to work international and this might be a good start.
This is my crazy Idea. It might suits you as well and we could help each other researching!?
In case not, I am thankful for any hint, how to find out about the better schools!
(My english might be bad not because I am illiterate, it's just because I am German!)
