I'm a junior in high school and looking to attend film school in the fall of 2006, hopefully at NYU. Now, is it a good idea to bring/buy dv equipment with you to film school, even purchase your own mac system for editing? I've heard from a lot that this is a very good idea, especailly at NYU where equipment is hard to get a hold off. So to all you guys in NYU and other schools, what did you do? Would you recommend doing this?

Thanks.

I'd recommend a apple comp with FCP for NYU.
No need to get a camera, from sophmore year on, you will have pretty much constant access to equipment.

I totally recommend the computer... they SAY there's no time to shoot your own stuff and not to bother buying a new DV cam. We'll see. I'm seriously considering a Powerbook and a pro level DSLR still camera (cause I want to do photography too) at the least.
