ok, heres the the thing I LOVE movies. I love wrtiting screenplays, stories, and playing around with my video camera. I'm a grade 11 student but I have no idea what to do at this point, and it would be so helpful if someone could shed some light on my situation.

I live in vancouver but I heard the film schools here are crap and don't give good employment after graduation. I would do ANYTHING to get into a big name film school like UCLA or NYU but don't know what they look at....because If they look at grades I'm screwed seeings how I messed up my first term badly but would obviously try to get straught A's next year. Would there still be a chance to get in if I dedicated myself to film and school for my last senior year?

Also my favourite movies are donnie darko, true romance, and pulp fiction because I love the characters and themes but....even if i did get into a good school and graduated there would still be a chance that i never get a job in the industry and if I did i'd probably be stuck in a low paid position working on movies that would never come close to the quality of these films.

What should I do? I love movies...alot but should I just put aside my filmaking dream career and get a normal job?

thx

So nice to be young. Yes get a job while you go to school. If you really want to step it up go to a film making school rather than college.

What's important, though, is that you keep making movies. Are you making movies? Start simple, try a few music videos, make some simple comedies.

If you can't make a movie with a camera, a few friends and your imagination, you won't be making movies with expensive equipment either.

So what should I do if i want to be admitted to a good film school? Should I prepare for the SAT's?
Take acting or screenwriting courses?
