right...so im not really excited about looking for colleges. i mean i want to go to college but visiting colleges doesn't excite me like some other people in my school. i live in New York and would really like to know one thing:
does going to film school in LA or around it give me an advantage? right now im looking at Chapman and i mean, i like their program to begin with, but does the LA setting have an advantage aside from the obvious?

Well, there is a reason why Hollywood is the film capital of the world. Studios originally established their operations there because it was an extremely hospitable environment for shooting (not just the warm weather; also the varying landscapes. The LA area has everything from cities to beaches to suburbs to mountain ranges to forests to snow-capped peaks to lakes, etc). Today, the amount of jobs and opportunities in the area make it that much better for someone in the film industry. Not to mention, it's not too hard to find help, because almost everyone who wants to be involved in film goes there.

I'd say you definitely have an advantage if you're out there. And, if you plan on living there later in life, college is a great place to make friends and make connections that could prove very valuable (for you and for them), so it's important to choose your location wisely.
