YES!

I got rid of all gen eds (welll I transfere 25 from high school, did the rest at LIU). I did 16mm film in freshman year (you wont do that at NYU). When I got into nyu as a sophomore, I was done with ALL Gen eds and could entirely focus on film school.

Best thing ever, you really don't want to bother with Gen ed classes when you really should make your film

Hey Dipesh, did you apply as a transfer or a freshman? Because that may be the difference in dates.

I have some...another problem.
I am from Ukraine, Kyiv.
We have cinema school, but it is not very popular and interesting.
Yesterday i was in Moscow. There is a nice university.
But i want to know if there are good schools in USA (i know there are :-) ). I surfed some sites and saw interesting variants...
And now i need to know your opinion...

Moscow has an excellent film school. My University in the USA has an exchange program with the moscow one.

The top schools in the US are (film schools that are as good as the Moscow Film school from what I've heard...so I just give you the top ones not that you make the trip to the US to go to a school that gives you an education that is not as good as the one you would get in Russia).

USC (University of Southern California)
NYU (New York University:Tisch School Of the Arts)
Columbia University
FSU (Florida State University)
UCLA
AFI/ American Film Institute (Graduate only)

probably also UT (the texas oneSmile
Chapman?
SVA??

also I could highly recommend FAMU, the oldest film school in Europe. It's in PRague, Czech Republik and especially the Cinematography Department is amazing. At Famu, I learned more about cinematography in 6 weeks than in 6 months at NYU.

I can recommend Hollywood Seminars.
I was at a Directing course, and they had
some guys from Poland and Yugoslavia.
They have web seminars too, you can even
do them from home.http://hollywoodseminars.com

No, I applied as a Freshman. Well, good luck! Maybe, if we are both lucky enough to get in, we will be going to school together next year. *crosses fingers*
