Ya that's true... but if the students film are going on the festival circuits very frequently shouldn't we give it to the School as well

How did you get rejected from columbia college chicago but get an interview at FSU (which is one of the hardest film schools to get into) when Columbia college practically has an open admissions policy?

FSU is 'selective' in a sense, but they don't care at all about your talent or the quality of your work, or prior experience. There are so many applicants that it's basically random. As for the school, it's a decent film school, but the production aspects are still limited at first and it's not on par with UCLA or NYU.

umm, yeah, how did you get rejected from Columbia in Chicago but get an interview at a much more prestigious school? I'm not asking this in a hurtful way, I'm just curious.

Film schools are looking for great academic work as well (more so than actuall film making experience).

FSU is an excellent film school

I'd say top 5

USC, UCLA, NYU, COLUMBIA, AFI and then right after FSU with couple of others.

good luck with the interview

hi Dipesh,
are you really serious about going to spend 2-4 years in a film school. understand, you will end up doing theory. try a one year course - even if you don't get a degree so what. your show reel is your degree. try LOS ANGELES FILM SCHOOL at HOLLYWOOD. environment matters. that school is loaded with equipments - you name it they have it!

First off, FSU only interivews 30 kids a year (30 freshmen and 30 transfers) then only 15 of each are asked to join the program. And its not selective in that they don't care. Its selective in that they only take 30 kids a year out of the hundreds that apply.

UCLA has been through alot of changes lately. USC is still top notch. NYU is a big fiscal issue if you attend there. FSU is a production school. You make films and the school (state sponsored) pays for the production of your films. AFI is GOD, but its grad only. Columbia is a great grad school (still have the money issues) but the undergrad sucks. Unless you want to be a writer. Its a great writing school. But FSU is where its at. If the school was in NY or LA it'd be tops with USC. No doubt.

Hi there,
Are the interviews still going on that is strange because I was told that the last date was 18, 19, 20 of march...
anyways, mine went OK... you really can't tell from the faces of the interviewers. But I guess at this level you shouldn't have any high hopes 'cause they have to select only 24 students which is pretty tough competition.
So i have my fingures crossed...
Have you also applied to FSU?
Bye
Dipesh

Once more, Equipment should not be a big priority when choosing a film school. Its about the teachers, the location and the students. Equipment you can always rent.

Yeah, I agree, but it is a lot more convenient to rent stuff from the school and get film processed there than in other places.
