From reading these forums, and also getting an insiders look on friends who are currently enrolled in tisch, and usc i have came to a conclusion.
I am currently applying to Emerson, NYU, Fordham, American, UPITT, and Drexel. My goals, or what i want to do is be a horror film director, or writer. Horror films are my passion.;
In terms of education in Film. I simply want the basics, the techniques and a degree under my belt. Ive read that you dont need a degree in film to succeed. THis is a true statement, look at the many successful actors/actresses who never went to school. Demi Moore. Ultimately, my education is important. I will probably end up not going to NYU, and i wouldnt mind going to a smaller school to just to get a basic education in Film. I know that outside of school im passionate, dedicated and i love film, just like many of you.
So my advice, stop worrying about what school you get into, and start focusing on your passion, which is film. I HOPE. Get an education somewhere to get the basics. Learn as much as possible, and apply that with your real life knowledge. NYU OR USC IS NOT GOING TO MAKE YOUR DREAM. OR MAKE YOU THE NEXT STEVEN SPIELBERG. YOU WILL MAKE YOURSELF THE NEXT SPIELBERG OR LUCAS.
Btw i am a transfer student, transferring into another school. I am also major/minior so i have some other type of education.

Thats really good advice. Just what I needed to hear. I'm a junior in high school and love movies. I started looking into schools and my head exploded. I couldn't choose. Can I ask you why u chose to apply to the schools that you listed? What drew you to them. As of right now I'm still undecided as to which school I'll be going to.
