Hi Dipesh,
Sorry to hear that you didn't get into any of the schools that you wanted to get into. That totally sucks. You've got to realize that that there are THOUSANDS of other people in your situation too.
Anyways, as for the SOP... I think you really have to 'understand' that there is NO formula to writing a good one. I know it may sound cliche and trite at this point, but you really just have to be YOURSELF. Or try to convey exactly what that is.
I got into NYU's grad program, and I don't have an undergrad degree in film (which neither do you). What I tried to do was explain how all of me previous experiences have shaped my unique perspective on life and the stories that I want to tell.
Also, be able to answer the question 'why now?'. Of all the time in the world, why do you have to become a filmmaker now?
At the end of the day, they are looking for people with a strong sense of self. People that know who they are, and what they want to do. You don't have a degree in film, how can your previous studies benefit you in film? What new perspectives do you bring to film?
Don't bother with what other people wrote, because they are not you. Only you are. Find a way to clearly express that. Good Luck.
