I'm a Sophmore in the U.S. and it's really my perrogative to go to a university in Canada. I was reading some of the previous post on univeristies like York and Ryerson which seem like really great Theatre and Acting programs (which is what i plan to study by the way along with English lit). I read that they were highly competitive schools and was wondering first of what could i do in advance (way as u can see) to increase my chances of getting accepted and setting me apart from the crowd. I'm also wondering if anyone has applied to Ryerson for acting, how they "did" an entire play in under 3 minutes because im really at a loss of how to even go about doing that creatively Smile My grades are pretty good by average is a 92 and im currently recieving a scholarship at my current catholic high school. Thanks in advance!

If you want to study acting, you should go out and act. It's as simple as that. Get some experience and work on a solid resume and/or demo reel.

I know the University of Toronto has a pretty good film program, and the film industry is pretty strong there. Maybe they have an acting program? I think it's worth looking into.

UoT's film program isn't so great anymore and Ryerson's is hard to get into. You get into Ryerson's and you're good though. Western has a great production program as well, getting you both a degree and a diploma through the university and a college.

You seem to have a great shot at getting in, according to your grades but I've never tried to get into an acting program so I wouldn't know the requirements of them. There's lots of information, but don't go to York--for anything, but Business really.
