Serioulsy, what happens when someone spends 100 grand on film school, graduates, and can't get work. How does someone pay back a sizeable student loan, i'm sure it happens pretty often, and considering my people with a grad film degree probably only have a english/philosophy degree to back it up, they probably can't get a job outside of the film industry either. anyone know anyoen that went through this?
they need to stop sleeping and get themselves work. Just because you go to film school doesnt mean your instantly Steven Spielberg. You have to wok (::gasp!:EVEN when you graduate from film scool. Work is just not going to fly into your lap, you need to get out there and find it, and pursue what you set out to do. Its like girs. You cant just sit there and expect them all to just come to you (usually)... you need to get out there and work to get them!!!

well, a friend of mine has an english professor who has an mfa in film from nyu. My friend critiques screenplays, and his professor is pretty bitter about the industry i suppose. He(my friend) gives me stories about how his prof. tries to dissuade him from doing anything in the industry, or how it's so competitve or how he tried to do it and couldn't, so odds are, my friend won't be able to either.
So, basically, that's one example of someone who became a bitter old college english professor.

My film teacher was like this...be basically favored the students who sucked his nuts on a regular basis. This is the reason I was kicked out because the kids thought they were the teacher...so I was always getting into fights with these little egos. God I hate those little shi**s. These idiots would make the sh****** movies ever and the teacher would just think they are so bomb (just because these nerd students had our arrogant ego driven maniac teacher be the main star.) Then when Kyuzo & I would show ours it would be like...no recognition whatsoever. "NEXT!" Ya know? And ours would be the best without a doubt. I hate that teacher. Don't worry...I did get back at him by drawing a giant penis on his door with a marker. It was fun until I got suspended for two days...

LOL, man i hope I never get too old to appreciate a penis on some guy's door. Yeah, I had a similar experience with our video production class. Our teacher was awesome, but he wanted us to learn how to do the productions (which was only the daily ****in' announcements) ourselves, so the kid who was picked as director (of the ****in' ANNOUNCEMENTS, mind you) went on this whole ego trip, started calling himself Wolf, and thought he was god's gift to the moving image. It was like a Chrstopher Guest film, most of the kids (some were cool, though) were all melodramatic about the stupidest crap that went on in that class, while they were totally oblivious to the fact that the whole school thinks they're a joke. Needless to say I dropped that **** pretty fast.
AHHH, feels good.
