I've started filming my newest mess of a project entitled "Student Film". It's a comedy/drama based on a highschool kid making his final movie for his highschool film festival. And by comedy/drama, I mean neither.

It doesnt focus sqaurely on the movie, and its ****tily written. Yesterday and Saturday I filmed some opening shots at night with just me (i'm the main character- self indulgence at its worst, right?). After a few nervous breakdowns, I think the shots are pretty good considering they were in a dark room with very little light. Tommorow I film a short scene between me and the character's best friend. It should be very unentertaining and most likely horribly acted out.

The deadline for the movie is May 10, which means I wont get it done. It's for my high school film festival, which basically means no cursing or real life allowed. Basically it's a waste of time like my life. More updates soon!

Wow, it sounds like it'll be horrible! Razz

Good luck, keep your spirits up and and keep us updated.

Some kids I know from the local high school video/acting class told me they're not allowed to pretend to drink or smoke on stage, or to say "Jesus" or "Christ" in context in a video special about christmas.

Yeah, one film festival at my high school wouldn't allow us to even say "damn" or "hell" or use (fake) guns, or any drug/alcohol content. Absolutely stupid.

My video teacher's reasoning was that "damn" and "hell" are too strong of words, and that there might be 8 year olds in the audience. Which made me question why we were letting 8 year olds in to begin with. He said it's a school event, and therefore it has to be open to everybody. You know, just like the prom.

It's all bull**** anyway. Little kids dont know whats going on and they dont belong there. Of course, after my movie last year, Im surprised there still is a film festival. now its ridiculously strict.

Guys common, try to get around the whole violence issue of films. They're all the same, that's where the challenge and art of film making comes to play. And once you've tried something different you'll take that much more pride in it.

God. This is hell.

Shooting is a real pain, because like all good highschool productions, no one can act, and no one cares enough about the movie. My cameraman is sort of a douche, as he ruins my shots and then says that none of my shots are tight enough. Yet, he never uses manual focus or manual exposure, and I always have to double check to make sure it's on. GOOD>

only about 58 more pages of script to film...the movie is do in about 2 and a half months...
