I finally got the last interviewee on the phone, and scheduled her to get in the studio next Saturday (I was miraculously able to reserve time in the studio). Me and my co-producer will hopefully finish the script that weekend as well.

Last interview fell through yesterday. I rescheduled it for October 30, and I'm getting the narrator into the studio the next day to record the VO (which I'm aiming to have written by then).
I'm seriously reconsidering whether or not to have a narrator. I was reviewing footage and interviews and realized that the film may flow better and somehow seem more authentic if there were no narration. The only reason I really wanted a narrator was to say important things that the interviewees didn't say, but I can find other ways to get the messages across.
Tonight I met with employees of the expedition company, and I'm going to arrange to screen the film all over the state for teams that are going to Tanzania in 2006. I shot a meeting with some prospective team members and met with a lot of people who were interested in the film.
The last interview will happen this Saturday (after the Red Sox parade). Editing will begin as soon the evening after. I've decided not to use a narrator.
The editing is going really well. Like most films, though, it's a very tedious process that demands a lot of time and patience (two things that I don't have a lot of ). I'm coming up on what I believe to be the halfway point and am really proud of what I've got so far. I'm not going to jump to any conclusions, but this film is shaping up to be the best thing I've ever done.
JW, my only piece of advice, not that you realy need it, is to carefully select what film festivals you enter you film into. From the vibe you give off it will be an excelent film, but it would be realy sad to see it excluded from a number of film festivals because you posted it on the net.
A few major film festivals, which might be perfect for your film, refuse to accept films that have been distributed online.
What i would do is enter it in a couple festivals, then once your get the results back, or it is screened at the festival post it on the site.
Nothing against the site, this is just how festivals are embracing the net.
I look foward to seeing your work

I screened the rough cut to the team last night. They really enjoyed it a lot. I'll be finalizing the cut and will be screening it locally and looking around for some film festivals when I return from the Dominican Republic on the 1st.
It's going to be a little while until I send it here, so if you're really dying to see it, you can email me at jswfilms@mac.com and I'll send you a copy. It will be sent here eventually, though.
