Some of you know about this. Shot this summer on an expedition to Tanzania, Africa; did community service, safari, climbed Kilimanjaro, yadda yadda yadda, so on and so forth. Check out the other topics for more info.
We're in the process of shooting interviews. Did me and one other guy last Sunday, this Sunday we're doing two more. Also writing the script and trying to get an announcer from the Red Sox to narrate; looks like that just might happen.
Stay tuned. More to come.

Shot another interview today. We're hoping to finish the script by the end of this week so that we'll have time for rewrites before the talent is available (assuming that he agrees to do it).
We've selected roughly 40 minutes of music that we'll use if we decide not to score the film ourselves. We actually had a composer lined up at the start of summer, but he moved to Brooklyn while we were out of the country and hasn't returned our phone calls since. So we're trying to make up for that.
Haven't heard back from him yet. I have to contact him through several other people, so communication is a little disjointed and confusing.
I'm heading over to the studio in about 15 minutes to shoot the last 3 interviews. Shouldn't take more than 3 or 4 hours. After, I'll finish up the script and wait to hear back from the announcer before I start editing.
I'm estimating that the film will be finished at the end of November or sometime in December. I'll try to get it on the site before 2005.
this is an amazing project! someone may have asked before, but what are your distribution plans? and will you try to get it shown on, say, PBS? or at the Boston MoS Omni? (which would totally rock)
I want to see it!

Only got 2 interviews done. The 3rd person had to leave early, so I'll probably squeeze her in next weekend.
My current plans for distribution are to air on local access and send it to this site. Depending on how good it is, I may send it off to some festivals. I'm going to have a local screening and will take orders for copies.
I know the executive producer of the NOVA documentary series at WGBH (Boston's PBS station). I could talk to her about airing it, I suppose. Thanks for the idea.
I thought you did a good job blending the images. It's not distracting, or anything. So you know, what gave it away for me was the mountains bellow the fog look farther away (because of diffusion from the fog) than mount kilimanjaro. No big deal
the only thing about the poster is the word IN is pretty big when it's not saying much. you should mess around with the font and spacing, see if you can make tanzania bigger since that's the subject.

Trying to schedule the 6th and final interview for Saturday. It's the last time I can get in the studio for several weeks, so she had better be able to do it.
Apart from that, I'm in a waiting period. All the footage is captured and the tapes are logged. The request got to the announcer and I got a response saying that things are crazy right now and the question of when is the latest he could do it. I said early December was the cutoff date. I'm not even 100% positive that I still like the idea of a narrator, so there's a chance that I'll be slightly relieved if he can't do it. How's that for ironic.
I've decided not to wait to hear back from the announcer. I found someone else to do the narration and sent word that I no longer needed the announcer's services and thank you anyway.
I still have one more interview that I have to do, but I'm getting the feeling that the person is avoiding me. Not returning calls or emails. I absolutely need her to do it or else the film will suffer.
Apart from that, I'm working with a new composer that is going to provide music in addition to what I already have. I'm finishing up the script so that I can get my narrator in the studio and record the voice-over as soon as possible.
