I just watched your short, and can provide some feedback. Minus the first shot which was very very dark with a somewhat akward white square light, I thought you did a good job shooting, keeping the film consistent from take to take. I know what you were going for in the opening shot with a darkened room, but the way it came out on film just doesn't do it for me, considering the rest of the shots that follow. To me, visual continuity is just as important as a good story, and when I see student films that lack consistency in lighting and tone between shots I think it detracts significantly from the narrative. (obviously I am not against different enviornments that constitute different results on film; im more talking about when you have three shots of different indoor locations and 2 are exposed correctly and one is shot 2 stops over).
Other than that, I think this is definitely en experimental piece, as there is no a hard and fast story line (the ending give us a small taste of something, but that even remains unclear). And therein lies the flaw for me....I really couldn't tell you what exactly is going on here. Other than that we have two characters who like to do blow and ****. There is nothing approaching a clear and/or concise story, and nothing that visually grabs me other than the girls tattoo. I understand it's a love affair with cocaine, and it certainly conveys that. What else did you intend to present?
