Thanks man, really good to hear that! And, Karen, as always I appreciate your input.
I've done a lot of thinking about the actors and sometime this week I am going to have a very deep, serious talk about everything. The story. The acting. The concept behind the film. Everything.
I think it will do them, and me, good.
I don't know about a trailer anytime soon. I am kind of against it until I get all of the film completed... I don't want to clutter my brain with other projects. I want to focus entirely on the movie... and I think it's working well so far.
I got really high and bored last night and decided to make a stupid teaser trailer to "Blow Job" with some footage. This is mostly for people interested in the production - you can see how I filmed it, the actors, etc... Mind you it's only a teaser and once I get more footage I will likely make another trailer that suits the film properly.
It's fifty-two seconds long and, as always, complain about it, love it, hate it, just give me a f*cking opinion!
Haha, thanks Karen. I actually don't like doing work when I get high. I just felt like doing something constructive and really wanted to get some footage cut together for SOMETHING. So, this is the product. I'm glad it got your interest and teased you, nonetheless.
I'm sure you'll like the newer trailers more. I'm going to put a lot more work into them instead of just an hour in front of Pinnacle.
And, thanks Chris, coming from you that means a lot
I know I was nitpicking earlier about your set design choices, but now that I've actually seen video rather than just still pictures, I think you've created a really nice atmosphere. (especially with the drab colors. the spinach and sausages are awesome too...their appearance sets a sort of mental tone for the scene)
I will say their are a few little "hiccups" in the camerawork that are a little distracting. But, man, that sweeping shot of Bethany with the back of her hand on her cheek is lovely. (Reminds me a bit of Kirsten Dunst for some reason.)

Thanks. I like that shot too and she's told she looks a lot like Kirsten Dunst all the time.
I might add a little more footage to the trailer. I don't know. LIke I said I don't want to preoccupy myself with teaser's and such, but it's nice to give you all some footage at least. It's been too long. haha
Chris, what hiccups are you talking about? If you could point them out that'd be great so I can remember when I refilm or if I continue with this footage and just edit it in post.
I think I was just being too perfectionistic again. The first time I watched it, I thought a few of the shots were kind of wobbly. (the opening shot of the cooking pots, and the sweeping shot away from Jonathan) But now that I've watched it a few times, I don't think its really an issue at all.
Does it look like you'll be able to shoot anymore in the near future?

A lot of my complicated shots are done with a VERY steady hand. I'm not a fan of handheld so it's unfortunate when a shot requires that in order for it to work out - I just try and keep my hand steady and prepare my body movement so it looks good. My buddy is going to go in later to edit out anything I think looks too handheld and make it nice and steady.
I should start filming fairly shortly. It will be done by October 1st for my college portfolio. If not, I have a few other projects that I like a lot that I will tackle instead with a different cast.
Alright, so, I did another trailer that I think suits the film much better. People kept saying that the first one reminded them of cooking... good food... and some suggested it would be a good ad for a restuarant.
Michael thought it looked more professional...darker and more in keeping with the film's story.
I wasn't as sure about it. Yes it was good to get away from shots of the ugly food, but the first trailer felt more sinister. The actors...were you trying for nonchalent?
Anyway, whatever, IT IS a fabulous start!

I see what you mean Chris but the problem is a lot of these "composers" advertising their work really don't know how to play an instrument or write music at all. They simply get on GarageBand or what ever and point and click at what sounds cool.
Now, don't get me wrong, I'm totally down to using it if it sounds good but I want someone who really knows music, not just a program, before I put it in my movie.
I guess you could say I'm looking for someone who can write music.
