Things have been messy of late. Flame wars left and right. People insulting each other. Opinions becoming more than opinions. Senseless posts. Nonsensical posts. Random picture posts. More flame wars. Stupid, endless arguments.
In this last week Josh and myself have made the decision to suspend first one, and then another user. They'll be back in due time, for a second chance. Hopefully, as valuable members of the community, and not trolls.
I'd like everyone to take this opportunity to evaluate their behavior in the forums recently. Have you been being nice? If the answer is no (you know who you are, I suspect) you might want to think about that.
We're tired of the bad mood the forums have been stewing in, and we're going to put a stop to it. If you don't play nice, you'll get a time out. It's as simple as that. So be nice.
This thread remains open as long as everyone stays constructive, because I'd like to give people a chance to agree with us here.

I've been coming to the forum less frequently. but it seems everytime I'm here someones upset about something and everyone's arguing.
This site is about helping each other!

how can you be "nice" on a forum? if i wanna show myself smiling i have to leave it up to a little yellow face. We're all speaking from the same source, and its even more evident here since we cant hear ourselves, we're all just the same letters assembled into the same words anyone else uses. There's no special mannerisms, theres no hugs, there's no talking with food in our mouth. its just little words. you ask for valuable members yet you ban a member (one who always posts lengthy thought) I dont see how anyone could take anything here seriously, if anything anyone who "starts" something is often just challenging a point of view from another. if anyone should be banned it should be the people who dont say anything. how many topics open where someone asks something about film but they dont say anything at all? "fantasic!" thats not anything moron, tell us what it really means, or maybe you should re think what "Amazing" means, were you really only left with one word in response to the film? "Fantastic" is the only thing running through your head years later in recalling the film? Maybe you just know your a sicko for loving the way that naked chick's breast got cut off. The only way i can ever be valuable is to be completely honest, which is what one of the members is who you banned.what is banning someone for a week gonna do? Im sure theyre sitting in a corner while you proudly display the mounted head on the wall. Ban em for real, or is there really no reason to?
When are our films gonna speak for ourselves, for everything? Whatre you gonna do then? Ban them too? but only for a week?

We didn't ban anyone, because we believe in second chances. We suspended two people. One of them was responsible for a large amount of unease in the forums, and even drove one of our members away. Another blatantly and repeatedly disrespected the rules of society, and of this website.
Is it silly to get a time out? Yes, but if someone acts like a child, maybe they need to be treated like one.
I firmly believe in honesty, but when someone's honesty leads them to insult and disrespect others, maybe they should stick to lying.
I'm not actually sure what you're talking about in your post, but I said everything there is to say in my first post, so it still stands.
You're a nice guy, Kyle, but sometimes it might help to step away from the profound metaphysical double-talk and look at the issue in black and white. When someone is mean, it's not cool. We're cool people here.

all im saying is you banned [classified, to protect the guilty-TD], i dont know what and i dont care, but if you look back at his posts you'll see chunky thoughts...thats more than a lot of the people who when asked abotu a film, they limit it to a sentence, rather than using this forum for what its for. ID like to hear why people like these movies, cause then i can think of reasons why they arent right (in my opinion) and i can learn from what these people like (so i never do these things) I hardly ever read people's opinions on here, its all talk about how gorgeous the film looked, all this technical **** rather than how you really felt during the pciture, what it personayl ment to you, what you saw differently.. maybe thats just a problem with films? Theyre so simple you dont get a chance to stop and ask questions.
i cant say anything any certain way, if i sound metaphysical its cause im not really here right now and off in other realms being chased by people with potted plants. im less comprehensible in person
i just wanna hear more people explain these things that im always attacking, the only reason i attack them is cause i hate them so much, but i never hear anyone really love them so how could i stop?
o and how could you ever do such when someone is like a child? IVe always accept comments like that in high regards as its what im always looking to fidn a way back to; childhood!

Kyle, you're absolutely right. You've found the good in the situation, but you overlooked the bad. The user, who's name we shall not say, did many good things, but he also did some bad things. It's because of how valuable those thoughts you speak of are, that he will be back, and isn't banned forever.

I've read some of my more recent posts and realized I've taken on a more bitter and scornful tone than normal. Not sure why that happened, but I'm making a conciencious effort to stem that, so I appreciate TD and Josh taking the time to let people cool down.
I'm a very frequent member of the DVinfo.net forums and to go from thorough, helpful disscusions there to a visionary pissing contest here is disheartening. I hope the forums here can return to the useful, fun community it once was when I first joined.
Ben, I wouldn't have listed you among the people who need to calm down, but I'm heartened to hear you say that nonetheless. There is hope, people! And, for Kyle, here's the smile

Mood enhancers sinking in, ahhh that's better. I love everyone. Movies are really keen, especially yours. When do we get to name names!
JK, I've been up to my neck in that nonsense, and for my part I apologize, BUT i think mixing it up shouldn't be discouraged. We are basically a herd of starving artists looking for or activly denying peer approval. Love me Daddy. So TD I don't envy your job because "flaming is what we do it's what we're good at!" But the fact you take it so seriously shows this board will continue to thrive! If this was High noon and you were Gary Cooper, well you know the rest.
Hmm on the other hand, if I got kicked off the board I bet I could get more chicks! You know they love a bad boy. Hey baby I got banned from SF.com wanna see my tatoo dance?
Sorry about this post I was just testing if I got banned.
