One of the new features of the forum are "Karma" levels for the amount of posts that one has made.

The current levels are just Junior Member and Member...nothing too exciting.

I was thinking of creating more "karma" levels with a film theme to make it more exciting.

Any ideas?

I was thinking of Intern, Film Student, Production Assistant, Key Grip, etc...but I'm open to suggestions.

commercial director
independant director
intern
film student
film buff

eh. dont know about my list, just trying to give you some ideas. i think its a great idea though. that way we can recognize seniority and bow down to those high in rank. Smile

I think its a good idea just as long as people don't start sucking up. And that also means that people shouldn't look down on others because they are higher ranking.

How about this list-

Kid w/ camera
Somewhat serious
Getting serious
Serious
making movies
winning an oscar
have own studio
Master
Legend
Myth

Good idea but bad reprecussions. I can only imagine the chaos that will develop and the feuds over who's this or that. I don't know maybe you should concentrate on other stuff for the site, rather than another karma level. like the ability for filmmakers to see exactly how many hits their movie is getting, etc. the site is about the filmmakers, NOT the people viewing them.

well... it'd be absurd to argue over, like demanding that you're 45, when you're 12.

yeah - i'd like levels too. but only if it's not too much trouble.

bigmovie, your avatar IS a tad boring compared to my titanium doughnut Big Grin

it gets marks for being animated, and loses marks for being downsampled by the browser which ruins the antialiasing Big Grin

YOU ARE THE WEAKEST AVATAR! guhbye!

Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

Why thank's for picking up on that Kyle! How the hell do you have so many posts? And what is the story with ur avatar? By the way, cool signature!

I have so many posts because I was grounded all last summer and had nothing else to do but post on here and have endless BS conversations with people in private topics. Whats the story with my avatar? For one, its ever changing because I like change. Right now its representing how much I love black women. Though I'm not much a fan of Pepsi.

You can get a D if you don't turn in work.
Almost happened to me . . .

I could probably make a butt print and make millions.

getting back to the original topic...

As much as i like karma levels on other boards, i think they encourage post whoring. This board is clean and easy to find answers in, if karma levels are added we're going to see that change, without a doubt. Thoughts?

That is my biggest fear Jeff as I stated earlier. The great thing about all of us is, we have no indication on who has been doing what a lot. Sure, we can tell when someone started and how many posts they have, but once we had ranks to that, we got whoring.
Watch how much people ***** up to the moderators already, (no offense to you folks, but it is true), we do notneed more of that.

P.S. I have no fear in arguing with a moderator as long as I'm in no danger of getting kicked off the site.

??

I do agree that it might start alot of posts for posts sake. I'll leave it how it is for now.

Besides - I can't think of any cool names for the levels. Smile
