Hello everyone,

Since I have gotten many e-mails about submitting longer films to the site, I'm thinking of possibly changing the maximum submission length for a film on the site to 45 minutes.

If this is done, the hosting fee on the site would have to be changed as well to a per minute based structure.

0-10 minutes: $10
11-45 minutes: $1/minute

What are everyone's thoughts on this?

Best Regards,
Chris Wright

i like the idea! i especially like the pricing. if you can afford everything you need to do with that pricing system, go for it!!

i basically don't watch longer movies unless they look really interesting but i think it's nice to let some be sent it!

Yah this new system sounds much better since I have some shorter films around 5 Minutes or less that I'd love to submit but at $20 for films that short it doesnt justify the cost, but at $10 for them I can see myself sending several more films into the website.

I think it's a great idea.

However, if the charge is going to be by the minute, why stop at 45? Big Grin

Do you really think there is an interest to view films longer than 45 minutes?

A 60 minute movie will be aroun 160 megs. That's a tad high. Granted a 45 minute film will be around 100 megs at broadband. Perhaps less. 30 minute films are in the 60-80 meg range.

i would be wholly impressed if a student film kept my attention for over 45 minutes. It is possible, but rare at best. Most of the 25 minute films lose focus after a certain point, I would hate to see bandwith wasted on that. I'd rather see a larger frame size than 45 minutes of amateur movie making.

Still, yes it is a good idea. The option is a good one.

The maximum film length and the submission rates have officially been changed. I hope that they are more flexible and fair for everyone.

I'm looking forward to seeing the new films!

Sounds great Chris. More than fair, and the extra length could prove handy for some. I say kudos.

Is the pricing change retroactive.

I paid 20 bucks to put a 30 sec. commercial on here. Will it now only be 10 bucks to renew, or will I still have to pay the 20?

Yes. Whatever is cheapest at the time of the renewal - whether it is the new rate or old is the one that you will pay.

So in your case the renewal will be $10.
