I just had a great idea - let me know if anyone else likes it....

1. Filmmakers send DV clips to the site of certain shots. (beauty shots, landscapes, characters, anything) No more than 30 seconds in length for each shot. Each shot must be a DV Quicktime file at 29.97, DV codec, 720x480.
2. I compile the best shots onto a Data-DVD.
3. The DVD is then available for purchase at a nominal price + shipping. (to be decided as a community)
4. Filmmakers then can use the footage in their films, and even cut different stories to the same footage.

It will be interesting to see what people are able to do with the same footage.

I would definately be down with that. I could use some shots from different places so I could put the words at the bottom of the screen, like "The middle of the Himilayas" and then shoot my stuff somewhere totally different.

I could see how this could eb a great tool.

Would muzzle flashes and explosions be welcome?

I'm not sure you should really be blowing up things for the project.

Could be some liability issues on the site's part that I don't really want to get into.

Hopefully the liability issues concerning 3D animation are not too huge

Sure - if they're ones that you've created then that's great. (But you can't be using any stock footage in creating them - it'd be a rights issue)
