1800 and no one in the chat rooms. I hate to be negative, but that's jsut sad . . .

I remember when I didn't have DSL and had to wait FOREVER just to see a movie. I ended up quitting through half of the movies unfortunately, just from the mere frustration of having to wait.
Yah, the chats have potential to be very busy and informative, but I think perhaps people are turned away for a variety reasons. What are they? I'm not sure. But based on my personal experience, it seems like I've gotten used to people never being in them so I stopped trying. Here's an off the wall suggestion:
Maybe on the front page there can be a small real time ticker/something-or-other that says how many people are the chat at the same time. With 1,800 members, I'm sure there is potential to have it active a lot. I know seeing how many people are inside right now is just 2 clicks away, but c'mon, we're all indirectly lazy in that way. It's newfound internet-human-nature. Two clicks is too time consuming somehow. Right? Right.
I see the possibility for a real time message baord, where people can get answers and opinions right away. That'd be handy.

Yeah, In my personal opinion.. Big, your suggestion about people coming in at the start of every hour on the hour was a decent idea, and it DID work (for about a day)...
I personally think we will get more people in the chats if we actually restrict when they can (or can't) enter the chat rooms.
With the "check and see" approach, everyone still seemed to miss each other... but with a specific time that we can ALL be in there, i don't see how it couldn't work...
How does everyone else feel?

Another big turnoff for me is that you can't tell if someone is talking if you have the window minimized. So if you're the only one in there, and surf the web to pass some time you don't know if anyone is in there. Unless you check every five minutes or so, and then if someone is in there you say something, and they don't know that you did. So pretty much you keep missing each other. It's happened to me a couple of times. Or sometimes I'll forget it's open, and not look for a while, and not knowing that someone is in there I'll not look. And miss the people. I know it's something that Infopop has to do though, because I think I mentioned that to you a while back.
I also think that having a specific time for people to chat is good. I know there's the sunday chat, maybe some more advertising on the boards would help that one out a bit. I don't think that you should take away the 24/7 room though cause I have caught people in there at really weird times before, even though not too often. I just think that maybe telling more people to go to the rooms sunday would help a lot though.
