I'm starting to put together the DVD for the contest - filmmakers are submitting commentaries and behind the scenes tidbits to go along with the films on the DVD.
I'm even thinking of having it professionally made as well. (i.e. real DVDs made not DVD-Rs)
To help me work out a budget for the whole project, how much would people pay for such a DVD if I offered it for sale on the site? Considering that it has tons of extras and everything and would be professionally made and designed.
Something to ponder as I work over the budget for this thing. I'm looking forward to it.
19.95 sounds good to me too. Or maybe make it 15.99. All depends on how much production costs. I'd just take the production cost, figure out how much it would be per DVD on average and then add 5-10 dollars for profit.

Yeah, seconded. What's the total running time? Around 60-70 minutes, I guess? $10-11 is about as high as seems fair, considering that you can get a 2 disc special edition of Batman Begins for $16 at Amazon (when it's released).

Yeah, but Batman sucks, (and was mass produced)

I don't know if anyone is aiming to make a profit off this, but I made 100 DVDs of Ace Ramano to sell for charity, and sold them for $6 each. I made a $4 profit off each one, and they came with a real plastic DVD case too as well as a stamped label on the DVD and full color DVD case cover printed on matte paper.
I got my stuff from supermediastore.com . Great prices. I'm also taking into account the price of ink and paper.
If these DVDs are going to be sold for $20, I better get a gold-standard DVD+R and a darned good case, if you know what I mean.

You can only make them in large runs of 500 or so. The lowest # I've seen was 300 however. You can't buy blank ones of those - they get pressed in a factory with your film on it.
They just come recommened from a friend who's using them for his album (which isn't quite completed so he hasn't actually used them yet.) But after looking at their site, I'd go with them for a project.
