This will be a lot of fun! It’s a good idea and I’m way excited. I'm just curious however, will the films be judged by votes on the site? This could prove to be tough, since some filmmakers (I won't name them) seem to have hundreds of reviews of their films, even when their films are really bad.
And I see that 90% of those reviews are perfect scores. I myself don't know as many people that some of these guys do, so I'm submitting to this contest hoping that everyone will be honest and allow the films to be judged by those who are members of site and not all their friends from school and myspace and other such ways. If that’s the case, it becomes a contest on how many people you know and can get to vote for you, not how good the film is.
Once again I’m just curious, I would love to submit for the contest and again I think it’s a great idea and a lot of people are going to have a ton of fun with it. But if I have to go up against a popularity contest, I probably won’t. Thanks Chris, the site is wonderful!! By the way your editing job on the “Interpol” video is amazing!! When I first saw the video I was wondering who did the editing.
My friends and I did sort of an Interpol music video, we filmed it in three hours and I edited it in almost the same amount. Yours is the real thing and it’s really great!
dont worry, the only people who can vote are the people who have submitted for the contest.

Yes - Kyle is right. The winning film will be selected by the filmmakers who submit a film to the contest.
Each filmmaker picks their top three films and the winner gets chosen from that.
The films will still be able to be reviewed "normally" on the site - although that score has nothing to do with whether the film will win the contest.

Thanks! Glad you liked it. That video was alot of fun.
Not in titaniumdoughnut time, it isn't. In approximately 1.75 months I'll suddenly realize I should get started. One day before the deadline I'll film something quickly about speeding down the road to the fedex office before it closes, edit it in camera, stick the tape in an envelope and mail it overnight for $50 to make it on time.

I've been visiting this site for awhile now and this contest sounds interesting.
However, I'm wondering why the film can't be rated R. I'm not planning to use any nudity, but I do have an idea where quite some voilence is involved. Is that a problem?
Thanks in advanced.

It's mainly anti R for nudity, some violence is ok. But try to keep it within the "PG-13" boundaries because I'd love to have these films be able to reach a broad audience.
It's mainly nudity, excessive swearing, and extreme blood, guts, and gore that I'm looking to avoid in the festival. (i.e. some swearing and some violence is ok) However, I'm a firm believer that you don't need any of the latter to have a good movie.
I was also wondering about how many films on person can submit. I'm working with something of a collaboration with a friend, but I also have another short I wanna do one for this contest.
