More specific to Brandon's question...
Are any of the winning films from last year on the site?
If so can someone posts links and what the theme was last year?

Last year's theme was "A Road". A DVD of all of the films will be available soon - complete with awesome special features.

You can see the films here:

http://www.studentfilms.com/contest.jsp

They're in the "View Films" menu.

The theme is "Lost and Found" therefore - it must have something to do with that them or idea.

This time around, why don't we set up a server so that we don't have to mail the movies. Based on the new h.264 codec it should be fairly easy to get all the films without being a bandwidth killer. Any thoughts on this Chris?

I personally prefer at least having the option to mail them. I've had too many bad experiences with servers going down at the last minute, or not being able to upload cause they keep timing out, and things like that.

Hmm, you're right about that too. I was grateful for express shipping the last time, so maybe having both options?

No - we need to mail them in so that we'll have them at the highest quality for the DVD as well - plus I put the Studentfilms.com logo at the head of all of the films.

Hey thanks for the link to the films. Are they in any particulat order or is the rankings posted somewhere else?

Also, is this contest based only on the overall film? Or is there a rulbrick of any kind? (only asking because I've been surprized before)

They're in alphabetical order.

Last year's winners were "Stakeout on Cranberry", "Banana Road", and "Spring Heeled Jack."

Each filmmaker who submits a film to the contest gets to vote on their favorite 3 films - and that's how the winners are selected.
