If you need REAL silver, as in shiny metal silver, the Ralph Lauren paints are expensive, but will yield the best results.

For everything else - be cheap! Be sure to think about whether or not you want a shiny finish, and ask them if you can get any free paint for your shoot. Sometimes they have cans that didn't turn out as expected, and sometimes they'll just take a liking to your project.

I don't have a whole lot of experience in carpentry. It might be really smart to try to get someone who does to help you with this project. I would look for the cheapest wood 4'x8' panels that you can find.
