My friend and I are juniors in high school and we have wanted to make a serious attempt at making a film since freshman year. She plans to study film in college. I offered to make an attempt at writing a script, and I came up with and settled on the idea of a short mockumentary on a hopelessly incompetent peer mediation group in a high school and the four characters who are a part of it. It's really quite a silly thing based off of how the peer mediation group was in our old middle school (larger, but equally as incompetent,) but I'm just afraid that it's terrible. I'm thinking, though, that it could also be that I've read it over one too many times, so I was hoping I could get a second (or third, or fourth) opinion on it.

If anyone's interested in reading it over, I can email it to you. Thanks!

Hey, your project sounds really good; an interesting story. And, based on what you have written here, you seem like the best one to tell it. Here's an on-line resource for film writing. There's an article written here about giving and receiving feedback.

As a young writer, you don't want to expose your work too soon, especially to just anyone. Find specific people whom know, respect and value. Then, only use feedback that you find helpful. The act of writing more than you judging your own work is much more valuable and helpful. How do you know it's terrible? Why judge it now? just keep writing and having fun. You are lucky to have a like-minded friend to be creative and with whom to share an artistic vision. Enjoy it!

Thanks! The articles on that web page were actually quite helpful, and I really appreciate it. I didn't think about it from that perspective. If my friend likes the script enough to spend her time bringing it to fruition, then I should be happy with it....I trust her opinion.
