Are there any of you budding filmmakers in Toronto? I'm working on a project in the summer and was wondering if anyone would be interested in a little collaboration.

International Academy of Design, www.iaod.com
Digital film and Television Production and Digital Editing and sound department being seperated by the academy and registered as Toronto Film School recently.
its fairly new and its intense 1year and 6months program. Tuition is about 19G now, its located at CBC building, John and Front St. downtown toronto. The school has the largest access to the camera(Digital/super 16mm), lighting, grip equipments, studio access, 24/7 computer, editing lab. And also we have access to CBC Props Department for The Student Film as well

What did you think of IAOD ? I was told it wasn't the greatest program to get into because it isn't worth the tution plain and simple. My friend's dad owns a big independant production company in Toronto and was also saying the same. Just curious to see what your experiences were like there etc.

Sweet.. wow, I didn't realize there'd be so many interested. I actually dont live in the core, but in the 'burbs, out in Markham but I ended up shooting in North York last yr.

Anyways, what it'll likely be is a sequel to a movie I did last year (you can see the trailer at www.bluemonsoon.tk) That was just a bunch of my friends as actors and myself and another friend doing all of the tech stuff.

Basically, I'd like some more technically experienced people to help out with the actual filming, sound, and pre stuff like set design etc etc... It'd make things go a lot smoother and a lot more fun.

its pretty amazing you guys have some really good connections -- your father owns a production company?! yikes... and having access to the CBC prop dept. and cams and stuff has got to be great to work with.

In the meantime though, I still have exams which won't end till may 1... so probably during the entire month of may is heavy duty planning etc. (I still have to finish the script!) hope you're still interested.

Umm u may have read my statement wrong, but it said my friend's father owns a production company based out of Toronto, they mostly do commericals and marketting stuff, but great work nonetheless.

try to find a film school that satisfies you would be very tricky sometimes. the people i worked and still working with, who went to york, ryerson, or trebas, says they have their own complains about the in school or out of school experience. I went to IAOD and I had amazing experiences and I took adventages of teachers, facilities and contacts through working out / inside of school. No matter how excellent programs are or the reputation of the school, if you don't take your adventages or risks to try to be out there and experience, you will be never happy with any education systems. Of course some people who went to IAOD says they learned nothing and wasted the money and blabla but its all depends on your effort to be in the best enviroment and people. And, of course, its strictly my opinion.
