kinda rough idea, but im thinkin bout writin this, whether u want to film it or not

Wow, I really like the concept behind it, it would be good to know the history about the characters to, if you end up writing it.

ok i have a few shortfilm scripts that I'd like to let you read but first I've got a few more questions for you.
-Where will you be filming this?
-Is there any sort of compensation for the script?
-If I show you my scripts and you decide to shoot one of them would you be opposed to me acting in it?

And I was going to tell you I have a different script. It's kinda in the dark comedy/experimental. I mean, you could take this script and go anywhere you wanted with it. But Godfather, tell me what you think about this. And I can get you the script for this.

Here's my idea, you have this kid named Alex, and he's pulling an Ed Norton in Fight Club, he's just the cliche depressed little boy. Then he starts to learn how to manipulate his dreams. And after many nights of manipulating, he finally starts seeing things in reality he likes and adapting them into his dream. He see's a girl friend and her boyfriend under a tree in a park and in his dreams, he's takes the place of the boyfreind. He does this numerous times, seeing things he likes, yada yada, and finally it's like omigod he's done it a lot. He starts to have an intresting relationship with the people in his dreams and they start to hold him captive - or they're like, 'you don't even like reality, stay here with us.' Finally he see's some friends talking about dreams and so he goes home, goes to sleep, and in his dream he's takes the place of the friend talking about dream's. And he has the dream that person was talking about. So now, it's almost like he's locked in another person's dream. He spends the rest of the film hopping from dream to dream and this can be visually stunning, until he A.) finds his girlfriend, or B.) wakes up.

I know it's cliche to have dreams and all that B.S. and you've heard these stories numerous times. I offer something different, I present it in a hole new way.

ill post the script in a while, i have to find it.

i like the concept ryanl..i would definetly like to read that

Tanner - I do not want to tell you again. No flaming. This is your second warning, if I recall correctly.

It makes perfect sense to me... Godfather is not interested in being a writer, he is interested in making films. So why would he spend countless hours trying to create the perfect andflawless plot? Why should an aspiring writer spend his time trying to convert his works into film? The two can collaborate and create something much better than they could create individually, and they do not have to go through the steps of filmmaking that they do not particularly have interest in. Would you call Martin Scorcese "unoriginal" because he did not write "GoodFellas"? Or would you call David Fincher "retarded" because he did not write the script for Fight Club or Seven? For example,If I am interested in the Sound Editing aspect of Filmmaking, why should I spend my time writing the script, learning cinematography techniques, and various other things that do not help me develop my skill and interest in Sound Editing.

This is just another reason why I think a lot of us should evaluate our areas of strength and work together on a film. One person interested and skilled in editing, one person interested and skilled in writing, one person skilled and interested in composing music, etc. We could make something huge, and everyone could get practice exclusively on the area of filmmaking they are interested in. The person interested in editing, no longer has to learn about costume design and makeup. The person interested in SFX no longer has to play the role of director. The person interested in Cinematography no longer has to learn all the details that are involved in recording music.

That sort of turned out into a ramble, its just a subject that I am passionate about and talk about frequently. I think its time I stop talking about it, and start making it happen...

first of TANNER, your an arrogant person...i do write, and i do try to write, but id like to do something else, something that i didnt write, something different, i like to experiment.
i do like every filmmaker, write, brain storm , come up with ideas, thats why this is NOT MY FIRST FILM. I also want to help writers who dont know how to make a film make their idea on screen so its a good idea.
you dont freakin know me , get a life you and go write something useful instead of waisting others time judging ppl

I HOPE TO SEE YOUR ORIGINALITY IN A MOVIE, WHICH I DOUBT IT WOULDNT BE INFLUNCED BY OTHER IDEAS, BUT OFCOURSE U WOULD DENY IT
MOVING ON

Small correction: Martin Scorsese did actually write "Goodfellas". He co-wrote it with Nicholas Pileggi, author of the book "Wiseguy" on which the film is based on.

Didn't mean to be picky, just making a friendly correction. I understand your point completely. If anything, this fact reinforces your whole idea of working together.

I notice things is all.

Well done on your post overall.

I was not making an attack directly pointed to you. I did not post anything offensive or degrading against another member. I was defending against a hasty and unjustified accusation you made.

I WILL close this thread if there is ONE more instance of flaming. Flaming is making a direct insult, offensive statement, or attack on someone else's statement or ideas.

This is flaming:

If all you can add to a discussion are those sort of comments, then refrain from posting.

This is an important thread for GODFATHER, and I don't want to close it. But I will. So, please, everyone drop it. Now. Thanks Smile
