The Screenwriter's Bible by David Trotter is very handy, lots of nice examples.

The Portable Film School by D.B. Giles is a very good read and focuses on writing screenplays. Giles also has The Screenwriter Within. Both are good screen writing motivators.

Read all those listed and I guess the question is do you want motivation, format, or more?

Personally I think truby's book The Anatomy of Story with Paul Galino's The sequence Approach give so much more insight on how to make good film.

Begin with those two and you'll be amazed at how your stories improve. If you have trouble with formatting then pick up screenwriter's bible... but I almost think you'd be better off picking up screenwriting software like final draft to learn format. You can get it for a decent price on ebay. Well worth it.

I'm partial to "Save The Cat" by Blake Snyder. It's almost meant to be a companion to Syd Field's "Screenplay", but I think it may be an even better starting point. It breaks things down in a really simple way and outlines a strategy for building a script from a logline. Plus there are a handful of really clever and useful devices in there...
