Hey, I'm lookin for some tips on writing and filming comedies, I've never really tried my hand at one but I'd like to since they're usually pretty cheap to make and easier to get people interested in... thanks for any help!

I don't set out to make "art" I just try to make something with a beginning, middle, end, and some characters...the art seems to come during the process.

In my opinion, comedy is done best when it is anchored in reality. If you want to write funny films, base the story on real life situations. Old School is funny because it is a commentary on Middle age men, and how they long for a more exciting life. Super Troopers is funny because it takes a extremely serious job, and has complete slap dicks working there.

Comedy is my absolute favorite thing to write. I guess you could take a look at my website www.OfficerAwesome.com, in order to see if I know what I'm talking about, or just full of sh**.

One very important thing to remember with comedy is that the jokes that you use need to be funny to more people than just you and your friends. I have seen way too many comedies where the jokes are all inside jokes and it makes them painful to watch. I haven't done any comedies in a while but they are a lot of fun to make.
